How do I choose between CS and GS S&T offers?

Hi all,

I am new to participating on this site, but have garnered a great deal of useful information from reading through WSO. I am a college Junior and have two offers for a SA S&T position: Credit Suisse and Goldman Sachs.
So far, I feel I have a very strong connection with a few senior MDs at CS and hope they would take interest in my career if I earn a FT offer. At GS, I have a few connections with college alums, but the people at GS seem more distant and less invested in my career than the folks at CS.
I am struggling with my decision because I am unsure whether to choose GS for their stellar name recognition or CS for a few senior MDs who would hopefully take some ownership of my development.
Would someone please shed light on how I should weigh the above factors in making my decision.

Thanks in advance.

Are you interested in any specific product? If cash then go with CS, known for best execution on the street.

Nice guys may not finish last but they sure don't finish first. Loyalty is not rewarded, it's taken advantage of.

I'm interested in derivatives and EM, and whichever desk engages most in prop trading (or whichever operations banks use as guises for prop trading)

Go do a couple of desk visits at each bank. I like the way you're thinking - "whichever desk engages most in prop (or whichever operations banks use as guises for prop)" - just make sure you phrase the question more subtly when you ask them. Let us know what you find out (or just PM me)

I believe that Goldman Sachs is better connected with EM markets. They have a good amount of people that cover the South American clients and good volumes in both FI and equities. On the other hand CS has better coverage for the European market.

hi dealteam6, I was wondering if you could shed some light on what they asked you in your GS interview (the first round, whether it was ocr or not). Thanks
