How good is STIR/Basis trading on the buyside?
Hoping to understand more about the strategy and how it compares to working in directional macro across 3 broad questions. Thank you in advance for any insights!
1) Who are the big players? Capula/LMR come to mind but are there any other strong shops, probably more niche?
2) What has recent performance for the strategy/industry looked like and how would it compare to directional macro in general? (I assume lower volatility in returns?)
I guess broadly trying to understand if it is a good field to have a career in.
Really good. Have a mentor who does it and makes bank and loves his job.
