IB vs S&T

need some advice on what path to go down. I'm not entirely excited by the prospect of PE/PC and dont want to exit out into private markets post banking stint. I love public markets and think I'd want to stay there long term and exit to out to HF as ultimate goal.

I have an offer from 2 BBs (one being GS/MS/JPM) S&T desk and another at  (Deutsche/Citi/Barclays) S&T. I also recently got invited to 2nd tier banks superday and unsure if I should proceed or not (think Deutsche/Citi/Jefferies).

The only reason I'd want to do IB over S&T is frankly the exit opportunities it opens up, but I'm not sure if doing IB is the best idea if I don't see myself in PE. The hours are also so much worse for marginal pay difference. Would love any advice

Bump. Probably not helpful because I’m in a similar boat but I picked S&T. Just appeals to me more, I don’t really care about exit opps in PE, and people seem to stay in it longer.

I think it's b/c it's harder to leave, esp for better opportunities as compared to ib - much fewer seats AND you harder to pivot compared to ib pretty much stuck in the industry maybe can goto a new fund, equity research, ir , sales but tbh still the same industry lmfao

ive seen a few kids who have talent in programming/data sci/ML hop to startups/FAANG during their analyst years. my advice is to see if you can make it in the trading industry and if not leave to greener pastures in tech if you have the skills.

Do you want to do L/S equities or macro? I chose S&T just cuz I didn’t find analyzing company fundamentals and stock pitches as interesting. Also from a STEM background may have played a part too.
