If you could code...

For the traders out there, if you could/do code, what sorts of programs would you write? Would they be more to optimise non-trading aspects of the job (filling out risk/PNL reports etc.) or would it be to improve your PNL (e.g. scraping online news feeds, different metrics for monitoring risk)?

Tutti, I'm assuming you set this trap in order to give me tutti :) you truly are tutti.

Absolute truths don't exist... celebrated opinions do.

I once interviewed with a trading desk that was looking for an associate to automate the non-trading aspects of the job. The idea was to spend a few months writing computer programs to automate the side work, then eventually start actually trading... Hope this helps.

Then out spake brave Horatius, The Captain of the Gate: "To every man upon this earth, death cometh soon or late. And how can man die better than facing fearful odds, For the ashes of his fathers, and the temples of his Gods."
