Imperial MFE for S&T
Hello,
I was wondering if I were to go to the imperial MSc Risk Management & Financial Engineering programme do I have a good chance to land an s&t role at a BB? I have summer experience in the technology division of a BB. What are ways to maximise my odds of landing a solid role post-MSc?
Also United States, not sure where UK came from if it matters
From my past experiences, a lot of very early rounds of summer internship final assessment centres were all Imperial masters students.
Hi, the course (at least current year) has had people secure offers in various roles. S&T at BBs (top to mid tier), quant roles at various hedge funds, quant roles at prop trading places but also some risk and even consulting / commercial banking roles. It really depends what you set your mind to and your background. Feel free to DM to discuss more.
Thanks! I just wanted to know what are my chances to break into BB s&t, given I'll be starting the programme in September and my main internship experience is in the technology division of a BB.
Is there anything I could do to make my odds better besides networking?
I'd recommend maybe working through some brainteasers from the green book (introduction to quantitative finance interviews) as sometimes a brainteaser might come up in an interview. Plus do some mental math once in a while, keep on top of markets. If your background is a really good cs / tech then maybe do a little project with some trading bot / trading strategy. Also, make sure to practise for the ridiculous online aptitude tests and apply as soon as things open. Don't use imperial CV template, get one of the Latex ones.
Thank you for the advice! I'd PM you but I have to wait two days since this is a new account. Why do you not recommend the imperial CV template, is it hard to stand out with it?
Definitely reach out to me when you can - I can pass on useful resources! The careers team will force you to use the template, however, as you said, it is hard to stand out and it contains too much redundant, generic info.
For sure, really appreciate it
