Incoming Refined Product Scheduler - How to Prepare and Excel

I have scored myself a refined product scheduling gig and will be starting in a couple of weeks. I am super excited and hope to learn all I can to set myself up for a trading role. I am seeking advice on how to prepare for the role and excel at it. I have already read the typical advice ("soak up as much as you can", "be an asset to your trader", etc.) but what I am looking for is tactical advice that will help me with the functions of the job, if that makes sense. Another way to think about the question...

  • Current or former schedulers if you were giving advice to your younger self about the role, what are those important pieces of tactical advice you would give yourself?
  • I read RBN Energy and pricing agency news to stay abreast of energy industry knowledge. In addition to those, what sources of news do you find to be beneficial?
  • Are there any technical pipeline documents or resources I should pour into (tariff pricing, pipeline nomination process, etc.)? How do I find these documents?
