Do non-quant traders use python to do their job? If so, then it would obviously be beneficial to learn it. However, from what I've heard, non-quant traders use VBA more than they do python. It may be more beneficial to learn VBA instead.
They use VBA because it's easier than Python and they are more used to Excel than to pure programming.
Python is a language used for quick and dirty strategy analysis, backtesting, etc. In general is not used to deploy the strategy in the market. It is certainly useful if you want to develop your own strategies, analyze data, find patterns, etc.
And it will definitely get much more importance in the comming years (not necessarily Python, but any programming language)
I'm not sure, but it's definitely worth getting pythons. Curl in the squat rack, Steve. Max that shit out.
