I was wondering if sales and trading is dying. I remember hearing about this a lot, but if it is, how is technology affecting this? I understand that buy/sell orders, stop losses, patterns can all be automated, and machines are not victims of letting their emotions get in the way. However, machines cannot create new algorithms Nor can they contact others for inside information.

The last I heard was xVA desks are the closest to prop trading that you can get done at a bank. I may not be correct. Would love it if some one shed some light on the workings on the xVA desks at a bank.

What do you think about the profitability of these businesses going forward. Since they are relative trades, earnings seem to be pretty good compared to other desks. Only concern is deleveraging. Would you take an offer in one of these businesses at a bb versus ibd? or do you think ibd is the safer route? thx.

Hi everyone,
Let me introduce myself. I'm student at a Business school in France not target school (ranked like 30 by FT). My bachelor's major is in finance (nothing quanti) and I'll try to do my Msc at a target school. I've done some internship (one as an portfolio manager assistant and another as an equity dealer at small bank in France).
My question is simple is S&T at a BB or Prop Shop dead for me ?

how old are you? depending on where you get in for msc, it might be easier to try and break in directly also, what would you be getting an msc in? msc fin? or msc efin
