Jane Street internship
Hi,
I'm a first year Maths student at one of JSC's target universities in the UK. Reading up on interview experiences on here, I'm fairly sure I won't get an offer if I apply for an internship for this summer. If I apply anyway just to see what the experience is like, will I be at a disadvantage if I try again next year?
They do have a specific 'Have you interviewed with Jane Street before?' field in their online application - is this purely for statistical purposes or does it put you at an advantage/disadvantage if you've interviewed unsuccessfully before?
Thanks
Big bump
what is "maths" is it like multiple math?

I don't think there is any harm in applying or interviewing. I'm sure they realize just because you're not an appropriate candidate this year, you may be next year as you're very rapidly learning at this point in your life.
I interviewed there in the fall and the recruiter told me they'd be looking to "remember as much about me as they can". They're very smart people and I doubt they'd hold having applied against you. Plus I personally enjoyed the interview process quite a bit.
I'd give it your best shot, make an honest self-assessment about what you can do better if you don't get the role, and try again next year.
I should mention that I interviewed for the US office, although I'd assume the London office works similarly
