Lateral from NYC BB to TO for S&T?

Will be interning in NYC at a BB for S&T (not sure of desk yet) and hopefully returning full time. However I am originally from the TO area and wish to come back after 2-3 years in NYC for family and knowing I like the Canadian suburbs more.

After finishing as an analyst in S&T at a BB (GS/JPM/MS) will most big 5's in TO be willing to take me on as an Associate? And if so would it come with better comp relative to a regular an2->as1 promote? Just wondering if it's even worth it to move to NYC at all in the first place if COL is about the same and I'd end up in a similar spot 4-5 years down the line.

Any advice on how to maximize comp and where to go post-2 years in a NYC BB back to TO? Thanks :)

Yes, when I interned at a NYC BB but technically sat in the Canada division (due to COVID travel issues), many folks had worked in the US and moved back here with a few YOE. I think it's pretty common for TO division to internally hire Canadians who work in the US division so even internal lateral is quite common
