Leaving TDP options

I’m a year into a TDP at a major in a nonUS office. I don’t think I want to trade and am considering routes to other careers like infra PE (I want to do more than energy). Is my best bet to get my foot in the door at an IB shop first, and is the best time to leave immediately after the three years?

This is exactly why TDP's are so great! Everyone on this board in school "thinks" they want to trade when they have no idea what that even means.

I think there's a few routes you can go - would you be able to chat with HR if they're able to move you over to a structuring or more asset intensive focus? I think that's a good short/medium term step forward. Long term, I think you need to try and leave, no need to wait if you don't think trading is for you, but I think I'd see if they're open to you getting more project/investment type experience in one of your rotations which will make interviewing that much easier.
