Is Quartz their E-trading platform? Make sure the job is not "quant" e-trading as this is very far removed from prop trading or even the usual S&T trading/quant jobs
"Every man should lose a battle in his youth, so he does not lose a war when he is old"
Jane Street and Citadel (and all other well-known prop shops) > anything you can get at a bank, if you want to do proprietary trading. With regulations coming in, most banks have cut down on their prop trading businesses and/or people are leaving to go to the buy-side/prop shops.
Agree with peyo212...what kind of shop/role do you want to be in down the road after a few years?
All the world's indeed a stage, And we are merely players, Performers and portrayers, Each another's audience, Outside the gilded cage

question is, would i forever be a trader if i decide to join citadel/jane? would it be hard for me to make transition to other roles? would i be able to make connections with the MDs from the big names (GS/MS, etc)?

Citadel is a HF, not a prop shop.
At ML, technically you're not allowed to do prop trading since they (BAML) are a bank holding company as per Dodd-Frank. That said, a lot is done under the guise of "market making" on sell-side desks.
Most people would agree that Citadel, Jane > BAML for reputation, though a trader role at BAML is still a good gig.
