Moving from Securitized Products to Commodities

Am currently in SPG at an AM right now. I started out in S+T and was gunning for a commodities role (specifically in energy) but landed one in SPG instead. Went down the SPG route and realized while I’d be okay with doing SPG for my career, I’d still prefer to work in commodities and find that industry to be way more interesting (note I’m looking to move into commodity futures/derivs, not physical trading).

Would appreciate any tips on how to make the transition between two products that are pretty distinct from each other. For context, I’m more junior (think Associate level/below).

Will be doing the typical networking/coffee chats/etc, so am looking for any advice beyond that.
