New Accounts at an Institutional Equity Sales gig

Hey guys,

So I interviewed for a 12 year old company yesterday for the position of Institutional Equity Sales.

Currently, I'm on the retail side of things where it takes anywhere from 1 - 4 months to turn a prospect into a client and I have to make 250+ cold calls on a daily basis in order to get this done.

My question here is how easy is it to build a book of business on the Institutional side of things. To me, it seems like it would be a ton easier (again I haven't done much research on the topic) because the buyers are dealing with the company's money as opposed to their own (retail).

If anyone can elaborate on how to build a book in this field and the difficulty associated with it is, I would greatly appreciate it.
