noob question about type of stocks

Hey guys,

I'm really new at trading so i have bunch of total noob questions..

-why is there so many type of stocks for a single company out there ? for example if i want to look at the stock for Merrill Lynch, why is there like 10 of them for example (SRIB, PGEB, PDNT, MTTX, MTTT, MTSM, MTNK, MSPX, MYYN, DWMT)

-what is the difference from all these ? are these just different products of stock from Merrill Lynch or something ?

-so which one is the general common stock for Merrill Lynch for example ?

-And can one company have their stock traded in 2 exchange for example if a company traded in NYSE can they also have their ticker in NASDAQ ??

-out of topic question, does any1 know a program in blackberry that can look up all the currencies and commodities at the same time ?

those are structured notes provided by the BoA-ML desk but have nothing to do with Merrill Lynch's performance as a company lol! its cute u thought they were all stock though

for example:

PDNT-Bank of America Corp- 97 Protected Notes linked to Performance of DJIA 2011 PGEB-Bank of America Corp Protected Notes Lkd to Global Equity Basket due 2011 MTTX-Bank of america Corporation-Target Term Securities Lnkd to S&P 500 Market Index

there is no common equity related to JUST merrill lynch... they were acquired by Bank of America so you have to trade BAC if u want that exposure

yes, a company can have its stock traded on more than one exchange

and as for the blackberry app... check their website.

CD~
