Online computer science courses

Hi guys.

I was thinking of exploring my options in Fintech or algorithmic trading, I am a final year bachelor of commerce student with basic experience in Python and R. I think I would need to do more computing courses to gain more experience, but I don't want to spend another 100K on a degree. Do online open courses add credibility instead of doing a computing/data science degree, if so any suggestions on some courses?

Online courses do add credibility, admittedly not the same amount as a proper degree from a university. The courses available online are usually really good to demonstrate that you've learned the language/programming concepts, but to show that you know how to use it I'd recommend that you start doing small projects that demonstrate your abilities. Do a couple small projects a month and put it up on your GitHub, start answering questions on stack overflow etc.

There are courses on EdX and Coursera that are pretty good.

Here's one that's open source: wwwDotgithubDotcom/ForrestKnight/open-source-cs
