Power/Renewables Origination

I'm a physical trader in a non-energy field at a big shop. It's interesting, can be quite fun at times, but can also be seriously draining and there is basically no one much over 40 running risk around me. "Exit opps" would basically be joining someone upstream or downstream from me a few years from now, probably in the Midwest or Southeast US, which is absolutely not my speed.

The grass is always greener, but looking at the amount of power and gas desks in the US and Europe, that seems like an interesting opportunity set given the opportunity for mobility, and number of roles with a trading mind-set. That said, no one would accuse me of being particularly quanty so the odds of me going to run money in power/gas at a Citadel, Castleton, whatever, are about zero.

Are there opportunities out there to get into power/gas origination at if you have a phy trading background outside of energy ? I'm not opposed to starting in some sort of ops, scheduling, marketing role in order to learn the ropes, just wondering how to leverage trading experience in a different commodity rather than having that be seen as an expensive hinderance.

Also are those origination roles reasonably well compensated?
