At the analyst/associate level, always choose learning > comp.
That is of course assuming the lower paying job still pays salary that allows you to live a reasonably decent lifestyle.

 

goes to say learn something that’s makes you valuable. No sell side junior role does that. formatting decks quicker, coding automated offering sheets or responding to last minute fire drills from your MD is not what is learning. you want to get exposure to different products, find a niche, learn some secret sauce or develop decent connections and hopefully carve out some experience that you can take independent of the strength of the platform/franchise
