some "target" clarrification
I know there is already too much of this on here, so i apologize, but does anyone want to go through what they think are the top ten undergrad feeders for bbs trading desks? I know it would vary by major and desk, but for a normal finance business, average trader, not a quant but still smart....you know what i mean..
So:
Mit
wharton
berkeley
?
?
This is for S&T!!
math majors at any ivy league school (esp. those from princeton with certificates in finance)
bump?
why do you care? if you're already at one of these feeders great, and if not, you can't really change it.
there are lots of kids from most of the ivies (except yale and brown). mit places well. duke places well. berkeley is a good school, but dont meet many here.
Jimbo, why not yale?I thought they had good Physics/Math programs...and their engineering is above harvard's i guess...:P
yeah yale kids are no doubt smart, but they;re just not generally into wall street stuff it seems.
thanks jimbo, im still trying to get into a good college, thats why i was asking
oh, ok.
CMU is a target for DB, ML, UBS, MS, Citi, BNP, Wachovia, GSAM Quantitative Strategies Group
Funds: Citadel, DE Shaw, a few energy shops, Jane Street, DRW, etc.
Their presence is extremely large at DB, at least on the rates side of the FI floor.
A few CMU alumni work at Lehman in S&T. I have not met anyone from CMU at GS FICC or equities.
One should note a lot of these firms prefer CS, ECE, and Computational Finance majors, so this is not really a commentary on the Tepper School's undergraduate recruiting, but they have placed at most of these firms.
i know this is a stupid question, but just out of curiosity, is there one school with one major that seems to be the most popular for wall street firms?
nope.
not saying that just because i went there. every bank took many ppl from wharton, with most having a concentration in finance, but that was a secondary issue.
Some of the people I know that are entering S&T summer programs are Economics majors, and a few are engineering majors.
please stop writing stupid posts about your own college touting them as targets, its really not helpful
to the original poster, go on a few websites of big banks and see where they visit, thatll give you a good idea
generally though, the ivies (minus brown yale as said), MIT, caltech, stan, duke, cmu, chicago and the top state schools (berk, mich, uva, ut) place the best
