S&T 2027 Internship Timelines Thread

Currently a sophomore attending a target school recruiting for S&T roles. Applied to a shit ton of roles around late Dec - Early Jan. There has been radio silence for 90% of firms. Had around a dozen hireviews, and just 1 first round. Anyone else in the same boat and getting a little worried? Are the first rounds out, and I just got shafted? Want to hear everyone's experiences regarding the recruitment cycle so far.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, the recruitment timeline for Sales & Trading (S&T) internships can vary significantly depending on the firm. Generally, applications for S&T internships open in late fall (around November or December) and continue into early January. First-round interviews typically start rolling out shortly after applications close, with superdays following soon after.

If you've applied to a large number of roles and are experiencing radio silence, it could be due to the following reasons:

  1. Rolling Basis Recruitment: Many firms review applications on a rolling basis, so earlier applicants may have already received interview invites. If you applied later in the cycle, your application might still be under review.

  2. Volume of Applications: S&T roles are highly competitive, and firms receive a significant number of applications. This can lead to delays in communication.

  3. Networking: Networking plays a crucial role in S&T recruitment. If you haven't already, consider reaching out to alumni or professionals at the firms you're targeting to express your interest and gain insights.

  4. Timing of First Rounds: It's not uncommon for first-round interviews to be staggered across January and February. Some firms may still be in the process of scheduling interviews.

If you're feeling concerned, here are a few actionable steps: - Follow Up: Politely follow up with the recruiters or HR contacts at the firms where you've applied to inquire about your application status. - Expand Your Search: If you haven't already, consider applying to additional firms or exploring other opportunities in related fields. - Prepare for Interviews: Use this time to refine your technical and behavioral interview skills. Resources like WSO's S&T prep guides and mock interviews can be invaluable.

Remember, the process can be unpredictable, and persistence is key. Keep networking, stay proactive, and continue preparing for potential interviews.
