S&T Brainteaser Help
When it comes to brainteasers, how hard can I expect them to be? With SA 2025 recruiting soon, working my way through brainteasers.
I have a background in statistics, so wondering how advanced the probability brainteasers might be... anyone have an idea? This is for regular S&T not quant research or something. Thank you!
They’re not hard but they require you to think and think out loud. Example of one I ask a lot: you have a 3 gallon bottle and 5 gallon bottle, how can you measure 4 gallon?
Thing like that. Not necessarily stats except if it’s for option desk. It’s more logic and see if you can think
reviving this thread:
apart from brainteasers and market based questions, do you ask mental math stuff?
and for the more quanty desks, do they test your coding abilities (python leetcode)? for non-quanty desk enough to be able to pull data and do some basic analysis?
another point: does being a decent poker, blackjack or chess player add value to a candidate's profile?
They use the same questions. Just look up heard on the street or practical guide to quantitative finance (second might be overkill for s&t).
If it’s options related, do akuna 101. Should help with most basic things. I guess if you understand options trading == trading vol you will be in good shape
