I think there is very little downside to starting your career in S&T (assuming the bank/desk is well regarded). There is definitely a lot of turnover in the first couple of years but that speaks to the exit opportunities that are out there if you want to do something else. Even if you don't see yourself in the seat forever, the learning curve and network are worth it in my experience - and for top performers there is still good comp/advancement potential.
Any particular reason why you think this would limit your career path going forward?
I agree, The amount you can learn in your early years of S&T are worth more than any doubts you may have.
This is just an internship man. The desk you start out as a 1st year could be drastically different & the desk you end up as a permanent associate role could be even more different.
