Switching from Equity to FICC and vice-versa!

Hey all, I was wondering how often can a person switch from Equity to FICC in S&T-and vice-versa? Or are you stuck in one area and you just have to switch to different roles? Any input would be appreciated! Thanks!

the better question is: why? fixed income is shrinking and will shrink even further if regulation not lift. everyone is wondering where is liquidity for bonds. (except on the run treasury and tba but their margin is becoming lower over years because of increasing competition)

but if you do want to switch, these roles are relatively easier to move across desk: 1. sales 2. derivatives 3. financing (borrow money to clients)
