Things to know when accepting a job at a prop trading shop

Dear All,

So what are your thoughts/criteria you have when deciding if to accept a job at a not so well know prop trading shop?

How is remote trading viewed?

Should I be expecting any fees that I would pay?

Any advice is appreciated.

You shouldn't be paying anything and you should, if you are starting out, be receiving a salary if you are working for a legitimate firm. Very few prop firms--probably none in fact--trade remotely unless you have some sort of dedicated server and VPN to the home office. There is way too much risk otherwise.

Dude.... every prop is going to give you a bonus or draw based on a % of your PnL, but there is no reputable firm that takes inexperienced people on no salary and has them trade remotely. It is called a scam, especially if you are putting any capital upfront whatsoever. Anything you are providing financially is as good as gone. There is no reputable firm that operates in that fashion and even the stingiest & slimiest of firms offer a clerk's wage or stipend of some kind while you are learning.
