Trader to PE?

I have a job at a very prominent BB (I can't name it). They are currently changing their compensation policies to conform with new SEC standards and I have gotten inside information that we will not be hiring anyone this year and may be laying off anyone who makes over 200k and does not produce at least 400k in profit every year. Due to this, I may break into private equity with my background and I am guaranteed a spot at a big firm starting in two months. Should I take the position? I think it might be the start of a new life with more interesting alternatives. I would like to start an energy brokerage there.
