Trading Advisory to Trading
Hi all,
I'm currently a junior studying engineering at a top university. I have an internship lined up this summer at a BB in Trading Advisory. I'm very excited about the experience, but would ultimately like to go into S&T, or failing that Risk.
I therefore have 3 questions:
Am I more likely to get into S&T or Risk after graduating, given my degree and internship? (I assume Risk, since I have no actual trading experience)
What next steps could I take to get into S&T? Should I apply for internships as opposed to graduate/ analyst roles after graduation? This leads me on to the third, and likely most difficult question for me:
The bank has made very clear the fact that after the internship, there is the opportunity to apply for a graduate role. It would, therefore, be relatively straightforward to get an advisory/ compliance role at said BB after graduation. Should I apply for this role? That is to say would it ultimately be a step towards S&T or Risk, or would it instead be an entirely different career path altogether?
Thank you very much for your input.
