Transitioning from broker to trader, how plausible is this and what would be the best route to take?

trading is all about discovering some pattern that repeats (and there are many different types of patterns...not all are based on candlesticks). some people find this quickly...others never do. some people can just see patterns by looking at 5 min and 30min and 240min and maybe even daily charts while watching the day progress over many days...others don't.

there are lots of people who will try to sell you their patterns....be highly skeptical of these. You might indeed learn something useful...but 95%+ of trading education is garbage.

However, the one truth, is that it takes many hours, days, weeks, years of searching before most successful traders are able to find and identify patterns with any degree of regularity. You must first find a pattern, then convince your brain that is indeed a repeating pattern, and learn how to identify that pattern in real time. Some people are never able to do this....only you can know if you have that ability.

Energy trading is far from candlestick patterns.

Why are you asking us and not speaking to your clients?

This move is by no means unheard of but it's relationship-driven. If you're a half-decent broker you should know quite a few people after 8 years in the business... You need to speak with the guys you trade with every day - figure out how they think and how you might be able to help them. This is your way in.
