Transitioning from rates flow trading into quant trading

Currently working as a rates flow trader at one of the largest nordic banks with a finance background. Also, I am studying a Bsc in maths during my free time. Even though I recognize that alot of large quant firms hire masters/phds, I wonder if my experience in flow trading(running my own book etc) would benefit me in any significant way if I wanted to try out quant trading in the future? (given I complete the math degree)

Thanks!
