UIUC recruiting for quant trading/s&t roles?

I’m going to be a freshman at UIUC this summer, and I was wondering if BB’s recruit here for s&t roles, or if places like de Shaw, Hudson River trading, jump trading, citadel etc. recruit here for trading roles (preferably quant)?

Congrats on the internship. I know some of the major banks recruit there like Citi and JPM, however students who want to work for those firms usually try to recruit for their IBD or Capital Markets teams. S&T isn't that "quanty," at least to my knowledge." I think your plan to do tech internships early is smart. If you do complete those, you might realize you like tech more. However, if you're able to work at the big firms (I had a number of friends who were working for Google, Amazon, etc. in their freshman year internship), then you could easily recruit for a quant fund or prop shop like AQR or Jane Street. Make sure you are able to tell your story well for those funds. Maybe pick up the Hoeft T&M minor (engineering and business students can do this).
