Wanting to switch into Global Markets/Equity Research

Hello everyone, I am in a precarious situation at the moment.

A year ago after consolidating in the pre-med track my dad handed me a book and told me I had to become financially literate, that was Intelligent Investor. I put it off because I never really even thought of finance but one day I picked it up and I couldn't stop reading it. I finished that book in two days and picked up Beating the Street by Peter Lynch soon after. Over time, I read multiple books on value and growth investing aswell as security analysis and created a portfolio that has doubled in value since then (thanks to some strong picks during the market crash). I intend on holding these stocks forever. Nevertheless, I spend pretty much my entire day reading balance sheets and financial statements and analyzing different stocks, giving reports to my dad and then making investment decisions together with him, and so far it's gone well. I realized this is what I'm truly passionate about. I should also mention that my goal with these internships is to learn as much as I can and apply it to my own portfolio management which will eventually grow to manage other people's money as well. Currently, I manage a portfolio worth around $48,000 of my own money and make decisions with my father (whos portfolio is much higher in value) and I earn 10% of his profits which gets transferred to my portfolio. I am very ambitious with this whole thing and want to grow this much much larger although I recognize I'm moving pretty quickly with this.

Now here is the weird part, I am a rising junior at Tufts University, pre-med Biochemistry/Public Health major with a 3.9 GPA, and no experience at all in finance other than my portfolio, books, coursera and the Tufts Financial Group (no internships). I have taken some quantative/analytical courses though like Gen Chem, Stats, Epidemiology, Gen Physics and Organic Chemistry (and Biochemistry but idk if that counts). At first, I thought I would just do this on the side but around 6-7 months ago I really started getting serious about this but still stayed on the pre-medical track. Now, this is pretty much all that I do since the pandemic began and I've had much more time to myself.

I applied for a Goldman Sachs internship but Im not sure if I can expect to get it given my lack of tangible experience although it would be a fantastic opportunity for me to learn more about this field. My question really is, how possible is it for me to break into this field with a Public Health/Biochemistry major, 3.9 GPA, and limited financial exposure? If possible how should I attempt to break in at this point?

I applied to Sales and Trading in the Global Markets as well as Global Compliance as I feel as if those really interest me the most. Sales and Trading gives me the opportunity to learn about market trends, conduct equity research and work with clients altogether and this really excites me. Global Compliance is about regulation and I have taken many courses in International Relations so I have good background about policy.

My goal is to simply learn as much as I can through internships and am less focussed on the prestige. I am also interested in equity research and asset managementas this could help me build good exposure and I love this area too. Would anyone be able to recommend good firms to intern at in this regard and good ways to successfully land an internship given my resume?
