What are the best undergraduate degrees to become an exotics rates trader or equity derivatives trader?
I'm figuring out what degree to do to become a trader, ideally in exotics or rates trading or maybe structured credit. Should I do an economics, physics or engineering degree?
Hi anonmask, check out these resources:

You're welcome.
thank you very much :)
Physics and minor in something like econ or finance and join as many clubs as you can. When it comes to anything more quant focused the more math your degree has the better off you are.
Ok thank you, so would you say that physics has a lot of maths? Would it not be better to just have a physics undergrad and then get a masters in finance or financial engineering?
Math and CS.
Math or any major + MFE. But do you really want to work in the area that’s shrinking?
Equity Derivatives or Exotics or both (shrinking)?
single stock derivatives is competitive, and buyside funds like Citadel is dominating market. exotics is shrinking because of regulation like capital requirment
Get a PHD and work as a quant on the exotic rates desk for 3 years at least before transferring. Most of the big shots I see fall into this category Else: STEM masters and try to swim above the equations.
Or just network in a summer analyst program and get lucky
I interviewed for both desks in undergrad as a computer science & econ double major
