Do you get a bonus as a new joiner? Is it Europe or the US?

varies from $100k - $1mm....totally depends on where you fall...prop trading is a meritocracy...you get what you earn...no guarantees...as it should be
optiver second years are going to make ~500k all in this year due to marble values being 4-5k. crazy year for them.
is that a lot? I would have assumed higher.
Yeah - i should clarify these guys are actually 1.5 years out of college (joined summer 2019). So they're making 350-400k bonus their first full year.
>elite prop firms
>flow, susq
Not a trader so I don't really know, but I always heard SIG was considered a top firm, and some guys from school went to be quants and traders there and their comps were jealousy-inducing
No one else seemed to have a problem with that description of those firms, seems to be some sort of personal issue.
Not so clear cut. Compensation wise both Flow and SIG definitely lag behind Jane Street / Citadel Securities / Optiver, but they’re still great firms. SIG is the lead player in equity options and Flow is solid at ETF arb, behind JS. SIG is probably top tier still, whereas I’d categorize Flow as second tier (heard they had a killer year tho)
SIG does not pay the same as JS, though they were founded by ex-SIG members. Comp and talent down mean the same thing though. They’re not as black&white. If you’re working at SIG in Philly, on a relative CoL and disposable income basis, you’re probably making more at SIG. But raw numbers in themselves, you’ll be lagging behind JS by ~20%. Also, their NY office let go of their FI desks a few weeks ago. So it depends as well on what desk you’re at.
what were the numbers?
offers to traders (class of 2021)
Jane St: 425k (200k base, 100k bonus, 125k sign)
SIG: 225k (150k base, 50k bonus, 25k sign)
both non negotiable
