i don't know where trading is going in the future because of the whole Volcker rule, but presently I feel it would be best to start a career outside of the US, maybe somewhere more fiscally free such as hong kong or singapore or south america

 

But if you WERE to begin in the US, where would you be looking at? Obviously FICC instead of Equities, but after that?...

Why is FICC the obvious choice over equities? It really depends on your interests and the type of markets you enjoy following.

 

Because the technology-takeover is less advanced in FICC.
