Completely ignoring regular topic: How do I go about getting vc funding.

Lets say I have a social network I am building, but desperately need funding for servers/programming for killer app part of it, where would a vc start looking if they were in my situation.

Well you'd better have a really fucking good and different idea, because any VC I know would probably quickly show you the door if you walked in and pitched "just another social network".

Yes, Its a really good idea, and it a logical progression on how social networks currently operate. It is less about the social network than the killer app part of it. In addition to this, I have already built a large social network, and can back that up with data. In addition to this, we have a scaling plan and income stream clearly thought out.

If it's a "logical progression", why don't you just build it on top of Facebook? Why try to reinvent your own social graph? Don't make it harder on yourself than you have to.

Theres no money in relying on Zucks not to screw you. He will. In addition to this its a core attack on a direct product.

Well the traditional VC sources are extremely strained so you will have to risk your idea potentially getting jacked in one way or another. I would look into what conferences like domainer or something like that, they generally branch out in other online projects. You can also try to raise private investors cash, if you have any exposure to that. Generally, the first steps of VC ventures start with own capital. Family and friends could chip in.

Unless you have already something that works even on a basic scale, it is not likely you will find $
