Consulting or Industry Experience going into Growth Equity/ VC

Hi all,

I have about 6 YoE at a T2 consulting firm, mostly doing strategy/ CDDs in life sciences with an MS degree (no PhD, MD, or MBA)

Based on my background, is it best to take a stab at jumping into VC where I'm at now or should I get some product experience at a startup in the space? Moreover, how do VCs/ Growth Equity firms value startup experience vs industry experience say with a large biotech/ pharma player.

Primarily optimizing for long-term growth.

Thanks!
