Emerging Markets PE -> VC?

Have offer for EM PE fund that invests in Asia & Africa (role based in London), with my role focused on infrastructure investments (power, utilities, transport, etc)

My long term goal however is VC. Just wondering if EM PE experience would be attractive to a VC? They are similar in the sense that EM PE is high risk and requires a lot of hands-on direction & support from the investors, the same way VC does.

Just further background on me:

  • 2 years mid market IB (think Jefferies, Rothschild, RBC, HL). 1 year in TMT and then 1yr in Power & Utilities

If I take job at this EM PE I would do that for at least 2 years before trying to swtich to VC.
