Growth Equity pay - London
Currently interviewing for associate positions in growth equity shops (London) and wondering what the market compensation is atm.
Could you please share what the standard package is, including base, bonus, carry, if you can co-invest, etc. ? Also, is it Usual to get a signing bonus ?
also, how does this increase over time ?
Given at my firm I could make north of £200k /year as asso I am wondering if I should prepare for negotiation or if firms typically match IB compensation
Thanks !
Up - High level figures would be helpful
Up
Interested too!
Bump this. Anon - want to DM and share interview tips etc?
Sure will DM you.
I am getting £140-200k all in comp from 2 sources, it that market standard ? Pretty big deviation actually. I have no clue about signing bonus / coinvest / carry though.
Sounds about right. The bigger shops (BX GE, GA, TA, KKR GE kinda shops) will be at 180-200k all in cash, no carry/co-invest. Smaller shops at 140-160k ish in cash with often some upside with carry/co-invest. Signing bonuses are not really a thing, everyone wants that seat, not like they are missing much if you don’t take it.
thanks for the reply !
ok, so effectively you’re taking quite a big pay cut compared to banking..
Even if you join a couple months before bonus season, they don’t give signing bonuses ? Quite expensive to change jobs 😂
Interesting, useful background thanks. Give me a DM, curious to hear your experience.
I know deviation sounds high but if you think about it - is slightly like comparing GS to Numis. The quality / prestige of the shops vary a lot and its not like all seats are equivalent of BB / EB (even though industry may be more attractive, the pyramid is tighter at the top)
Even at the smaller shops (at least the ones I’m interviewing at), everyone graduated from Oxbridge/LSE etc, and comes from GS/MS/JP/EB or some large cap fund. I think you can be good without being KKR / GA / Warburg etc
Hey there - working at a player which sits at the intersection between traditional PE and growth (we have the flexibility to do both...) and getting paid close to 200k GBP.
Did you guys see any significant salary increases over the past 6 months? In line with the banking salary step-ups?
Haven't got the job yet, so can't comment!
Is that the Goldman Sachs team?
The GS guys work pretty hard don’t they ? I did a DD with them in the growth equity side and they always reverted overnight on info we received
Nope - it's not the GS team. Can't disclose the name since our team here is quite small ...
Back in the day (before Covid), classic growth equity seemed to be around 140-160 GBP all-in - with some exceptions like GA or Summit.
Ah okay so they didn’t bother to follow the 30-50% pay bump from IB
How much do GA and Summit pay?
Hi bro, I'm also in London, so your £200k pay is for associate. What is your firm's Analyst 1 / Analyst 2 pay? What is the base salary then what is the bonus? Should you negotiate carry?
Someone has details on comp at T2 growth shops like Highland Europe etc.?
