How does VC work?

hi everyone,

Apologies for the broad post but I was wondering if anyone has some very introductory books about vc. I am interested in learning more about and not just by reading random articles online. 

I feel like a structured book/resource could be really beneficial. 

For example, I am not sure by one basic thing. when a start-up raises money while talking with a vc firm, who is advising the startup, do they hire a bank to represent them?
