Investment Banking FSG SA to Growth Equity FT?

I'm an incoming SA at a top IB Financial Sponsors Group. Given a number of factors, I'm looking to lateral from my SA position into a growth equity role. What kind of challenges will I face when recruiting for tech-focused GE shops (Insight, Lead Edge, TA, Summit, GA, etc.) and MF growth arms. Is something like this even possible? I'd love to be able to hear from anyone who's been successful in doing this.
