London Growth Equity Comp - Associate

Saw a lot of posts/info. about GE in US but does anyone know about the compensation in Europe (mostly london) for Associate level? I had a few calls with HH but they were proposing 100K pounds as base, which was slighly lower than my expectation tbh

1. Curious about overall Base + Bonus for Associate level
2. How it differs by fund size esp. MM/LMM

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's what you need to know about Growth Equity compensation for Associates in London:

  1. Overall Base + Bonus for Associate Level:

    • Standard compensation for first-year Associates in London at MM/LMM Growth Equity funds is typically around £90K base + £90K bonus (100% bonus). This aligns with the general market range for these roles.
    • Some funds may offer slightly higher or lower packages depending on the specific firm and its structure.
  2. Differences by Fund Size (MM/LMM):

    • Lower Middle Market (LMM): Compensation tends to be on the lower end of the range, closer to £90K base + bonus. However, LMM funds may offer faster access to carry (profit-sharing) opportunities, which can be a significant long-term upside.
    • Middle Market (MM): Typically, MM funds offer compensation at the higher end of the range, potentially reaching £100K base + bonus for Associates. These funds may have more structured bonus and carry programs compared to LMM funds.

If the headhunters are proposing £100K base, it seems slightly above the standard base for MM/LMM funds but could still be within reason depending on the bonus structure and fund specifics.

Thanks, lower than I thought...!  and is it okay that I assume the bonus would be 70~100% of the base salary? So base + bonus would land around £160~200K?

I am very keen in growth and not much money driven in my decision to go into the space. Yet find a lot of difficulty to get info and it seems you know well the space given you know salaries / bonuses. Would you be available to answer some questions? Would really really appreciated it. Happy to do it anonymously
