Looking for Some Career Advice - VC Related

Hi Guys,

Feeling a little distraught concerning my career lately and was hoping for some help and direction. A little background on myself, I graduated from a decent school, went and did a MSF at one of the best programs graduating 2 years ago, and basically struck out during ib interviews and ended up taking a F500 job in corporate finance. That was ok, but I was always hoping to do something more analytical / exciting. 1.5 years into that job I was told there were going to be layoffs and I basically need to get a job ASAP, and ended up taking a job at a smaller company in my vertical doing analytics.

My new job is more interesting to me, but my goal is and has always been to get into a VC fund and I feel like I have gotten even further away from that. Ive only been at my new job for a couple months but I was wondering what a good next step would be to try to get into VC. I guess in general, ive just been feeling a lot of malaise due to the fact that all my friends I graduated with are finishing up their IB jobs and moving on to awesome things, and I feel like ive fallen really far behind lately.

Basically, the only typical options I would have left are below -

IB - Would be pretty tough to get interviews at this stage, Im probably too old to be an analyst and dont have a typical IB background.

Business School - Already have the MSF, and feel like this would be a desparation move that costs a ton of money. In addition, I dont know if I could get into a top 10 school with my grades.

Working for a Startup - This I could probably do and is the most realistic option
