MBA needed for technical product management to VC?

Hi! My background is technical:

  • Undergrad: computer engineering @ big state school top 10 engineering program
  • 3yrs: technology consulting @ 'big 4' (pwc/deloitte/kpmg/ey)
  • 2yrs: technical product management @ bootstrapped startup

I want to break into VC but I don't know if I should get an MBA to do so. I see 2 options:

  • No MBA: continue in product strategy roles at startups (switch as needed to be at successful ones) and gain technical product/strategy experience from high-growth startups - use that experience to break into VC
  • MBA: straight into VC from top tier MBA
    • Con: opportunity cost of MBA over working for 2yrs
    • Pros: could be quicker and more sure-fire path

Would really appreciate any insights / other ideas on how I should break into VC
