Pros and Cons of Growth Equity when compared to IB?

So growth equity has been a growing sector in the market for quite some while now and has gained more popularity recently. Want to know what the comp/exit opps/career path for growth equity looks like when compared to Investment Banking for example? Would you recommend someone to take a growth equity position right out of college vs IB? Why or why not?
