Hey, has anyone here ever made the jump from S&T to VC? I ask this because if you specialize in say Equities in Tech, you are set to have a deeper industry expertise which translates to relevant experience for picking companies or atleast evaluation. Sure, you won’t have a deep understanding in valuations but this early in seed funding that isn’t relevant since a DCF wouldn’t be accurate in projecting future value as well. Appreciate the insight!

I know, but the industry was vastly different back then pre-Volcker. Now it’s primarily market making and client funds. Does that make a significant difference?
Bruh none of the traditional finance paths are conductive to becoming a great vc. Sure there are a lot of ex banker vcs but most of the best vcs were entrepreneurs first. It’s pointless to ask if you can make the jump if you are just going to be defeatist and say “oh snt suxs now it’s brain dead work and I won’t be qualified”.
