Undergrad Job Offer? VC/GE/IB? Help!
Hi!
I have 3 paths that I can go upon graduation from UG. BTW I personally don't care about location and all 3 offers are 2nd tier cities (does this matter with future recruiting if I personally don't care about living in NY/SF?)
1. Tech IB return from my IB SA position in a MM firm (think Harris Williams / RJ / Baird level)
-
Solid Tech GE Shop, not top 25. I'd say a top 50 shop in the US and growing quickly, but not a name brand like Summit. (Not a pure sourcing role, maybe like 30-50% sourcing)
-
VC at a new fund (It is a very unique firm/situation) - I would be the 3rd member of the firm.. lots of room for quick growth? Or stuck in a low position? I am going to be vague, but say the VC is a subsidiary of a bigger company so my hope is that it doesn't flatline. Other consideration is it is not in tech like the first 2, but a space I am interested in although it is a space where you really do need knowledge of the area and I am afraid I need startup experience in the space to actually be successful.
I am going back and forth on all of this. What will set me up the best? I go to a complete non target and worked my butt off to get these opportunities. Is VC a complete trap is my biggest question. Should I completely nix that? Do you think it would be possible for me to convince them to bring me in as an associate off the bat since the group is so small? Would that change its position in the lineup?
Also, knowing I come from a non target, should I be planning to get my MBA in the next 3-5yrs?
How much is it hurting me that I don't have any major name brands on my resume? Mainly solid MM shops across all categories.
