VC arms of Banks?
After looking at some bios on different VC websites, I noticed that some had prior experience within alternative investment branches of large banks, sometime in a specific venture capital arm.
Sach's has a small PE group and JPMorgan states that its asset management program has a VC arm. Citi has somewhat more information on their Venture Capital International fund, of which the director bios are pretty impressive.
Does anybody know more about these groups? Is the process of getting into them similar to getting into "traditional" (kpcb, sequoia...) VC shops? It seems to me like you would have to lateral in from within the bank or be recruited by a headhunter. Any input would be appreciated, thanks.
If by Sach's you are referring to GS, I would hardy call their PE arm small...
