VC -> IB SA?

Doing a fall internship in VC with plans to apply for SA 2022 roles next summer. Does a VC internship bode well for IB recruiting? I've noticed quite a few VC guys come from IB but curious to know if the flow works the other way around.

I think it's all about how you frame it on your resume and throughout the interview process. If you frame your role in VC as your introduction to the transactional side of things, learning about the structure and execution of deals, and getting your first exposure to valuation (even if you didn't directly touch that throughout your internship), and now you want to transition to IB in an attempt to work with companies that are further along in their growth cycle, it would be a compelling pitch.

Banks don't expect having previous IB experience as a condition for getting a job there, they just want to know what has logically led you to pursue, and feel you would be particularly effective at, IB. I personally work at a hedge fund right now and have had success spinning my experience there into a convincing argument for why I want to transition to IB. All about how you frame things. And a VC internship is certainly more relevant than some other finance ones.

Good luck!
