What to do when your startup blows up (or is dead in the water)???

Hi All,

I've posted a few times before here and gotten some good response. Hoping to strike the community for more advice.

More or less my background is big 4 advisory (around 3 years) + regional valuation firm (around 1 year). If you read back to my post, pretty much the valuation place was terrible. An opportunity came up with a startup, and I decided to try it out.

I've done some interesting stuff for the last 6 months or so including looking at potential acquisitions, business planning, revamping the accounting, etc. Pretty much everything has flopped, and the business is stagnant. The company's not dying, but definitely not in the growth phase that it was in when I started. The main obstacle is a core problem, so odds of overcoming are more or less the same odds as a coin toss.

Not sure exactly what to do now. Stay and try to be optimistic that things will get better? (50/50 shot, but my resume will be less tattered). Apply for jobs now and try to explain away my erratic job history?

I may be overreacting, but just trying to not run down anymore dead ends.

Thanks in advance!!

Startup = high risk, high reward. It's your call whether you think the risk is worth it; I don't think, given what information you've given, that anybody else can really help you.
