Why do VC's omit age info/graduation year on LinkedIn?

I would say the overwhelming majority of people in my network or extended network plus those who I've seen on LinkedIn that are younger than 30, and maybe even some older people, omit any info pertaining to how old that are on LinkedIn. They all remove the months they worked at a company, and instead put years, so if they spent a summer at Goldman, many would be like "Investment Banking Analyst at Goldman Sachs 2012-2012" and instead of putting the standard "B.A. Harvard University, 2008-2012", they remove the years. I've concluded that this is on purpose and my question is why? Any entrepreneur that is savvy enough to start a company would easily be able to know how old you are.
