Internships: PWM vs ER

I'm going into my freshman year of college, next year. I want to break into IBD, and I was what kind of internships would be good, as a freshman.

I think I have a good chance (connections) to get a PWM internship at UBS. The brand name would be helpful but I've hear that the work is not very applicable to IBD.

Also, I might be able to get an internship at an AM firm, which has about a 3 billion AUM. This would be in conducting ER for their investment fund.

My question is, would the UBS name carry enough weight to make that PWM internship look better than the ER internship?

Thanks everyone

What he said. Don't get in a mindset of any "perfect" internship as a freshman because you're competing against target juniors, with previous internship experience, for those jobs.

For a freshman internship literally anything finance related should do it. I'd look into any for credit internships you could get with boutique investment offices, PE search funds, and the like.
